Standardisation and availability: how security infrastructure works reliably

Different sites require individual security concepts. The technical functions they need, however, are often comparable.
Individual requirements – recurring functions
Whether a major event, an industrial plant or critical infrastructure: security requirements differ in terms of threat situation, location and operating conditions.
Nevertheless, basic tasks recur. Hazards have to be detected, information transmitted, people warned and measures coordinated.
These common features make it possible to standardise technical security functions without restricting individual security planning.

Why does standardisation make sense?
Standardised systems have defined functions, interfaces and operating procedures.
This makes planning, set-up, commissioning and operation simpler. At the same time, it becomes easier to verify the performance of technical components.
This is particularly beneficial for temporary deployments: proven technical solutions can be used at different sites and combined according to the respective requirements.
Standardisation does not mean using the same security solution everywhere, but reliably providing comparable functions.

Availability as a prerequisite for security
A security function is only effective if it is available at the moment it is needed.
Power failures, disrupted communication networks or technical defects can considerably impair performance.
Depending on the risk assessment, an independent power supply, independent communication paths or redundant components may therefore be required.
What matters is that operating time, availability and behaviour under disruption are taken into account during planning and then verified.

Mobile security infrastructure for temporary requirements
Temporary security requirements do not only arise at events.
Construction work, modernisation or exceptional operating conditions in companies and critical infrastructure can also temporarily restrict existing protective functions.
Modular, mobile security infrastructure can supplement existing systems or temporarily take over defined functions.
The prerequisite is that it works reliably from a technical point of view and is integrated into the existing security processes.

Conclusion
Standardisation and modularity create the basis for repeatable, verifiable security functions.
The combination of standardised components, technical availability and individual deployment planning enables reliable security infrastructure – even under changing conditions.
